~~Old Windows~~

SO now what? I have all these old windows and I need some ideas on what I can do with them. I do have some ideas in my head but I would love to hear what you would do with these. Now I don't want to hear any wise comments like Tim makes...his idea for what to do with them is to throw them away!  Not sure why he would say something like that...I wonder if it is because we have a basement filled with  more of these...this picture is of the ones that didn't make it to the basement, yet!

Are you telling me that you can NOT find enough ideas on Pinterest for old windows?! Lol! Everyone is so into the doors, windows, and shutters. I have 1 old one that is waiting for a hanger so it can go above my fireplace. I like the greenhouse idea too... I've seen that on Pinterest as well. Maybe even set a few out on the porch as is and see if they sell. I know you'll come up with something... You're pretty creative. =]

Have a sweet day~

I've done lots of things with them. And my hubs says the same thing...he'll gladly dispose of them for me. Anyways, I've painted on them, printed cool sayings on them. The multi-pane ones add a barn star on front or make a greenhouse!!

Use them as frames for chunks of old quilts--they sell like hotcakes!

I have a ton of old windows also!My husband thinks I am a hoarder. Well I am!!Old doors, old shutters. I have made green houses out of them and sold them. I make pictures out of them. I call them window art. I have sold them also. You can make mirrors from them with Looking Glass Spray. Thats my next project. But never throw them away!!!Ever!lol

Oh yes, never throw them away! Yup, greenhouses are a great seller, stitcheries, penny rugs, quilts... The list goes on and on. Have fun creating, Dawn

Patti, Thank you so much for giving me my first comment! I have also seen windows where a shallow box was built, filled with a quilt and old flea market buys (following a theme ) and then the old window is fastened to the front of the box (like a prim filled shadow box.)

You have a lot of windows...I would set a few aside for yourself for a creative project and DEFINITELY take the rest to an antique store...or sell in a garage sale this coming spring. They should sell fast as they look to be in good shape.

Thanks everyone for all the great ideas! When I finally do something with them, I will share photos with all of you. I bought a can of chalkboard paint so I think that may be my first project with a few of them...if they turn out ok I will post pictures..wish me luck! :)

LOL - I was going to suggest the chalkboard paint, but looks like you've beat me to it! I, too, have seen them decoratively painted (especially for the holidays), simply hung inside another window, or suspended horizontally from a ceiling; or filled shadow box style with images and collectibles for paned styles. I've also seen them made into terrariums and miniature greenhouses, etc. I think there are tons of possibilities - limited only by your imagination and creativity...Have fun! Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

A small one would be neat with a cupboard built around it, have seen that and love it.

you could make cold frame for tender plants. We took the glass out of a window with dividers and put in mirror.
