Back in the saddle again

Finally getting back to painting. I dusted off the paints and paint brushes. And I am trying to dust off my painting skills. I think I have a lot of dusting to do!

I hope you all have a great day. We will have the Shop open today from 11-6.

Sunshine and Hearts

Good Morning. It is a beautiful morning here at the Brickhouse....sun is shining and it feels like we are in the midst of a heatwave! A heatwave? Yes, any temps right now above the teens feels  like a heatwave. What is helping is we have no wind chill...winds are calm and sun is shining. I think it is going to be a great day and we hope you are all thawed out from the Polar Vortex. Hang in there, only 69 days until Spring!
Now that Christmas is over it is time to add some new things in the Shop. Molly of CLEARLY MOLLY created some painted glassware for Valentine's Day. We are so happy to have Molly join the Brickhouse Family of Crafters. Molly and her painted glassware were very popular during the Christmas Season and we are sure she will be just as popular this year.

I finally got in my craft room the other day to work on my first craft project of the New Year. I found this design in a back issue of Create & Decorate and decided to paint it with some bright cheery SPRINGY colors. One is painted on canvas and the other is on wood. I think I may keep the canvas one for myself!

I hope you all have a bright cheery SPRINGY type of day. We will be in the Shop today from 11-6. If you are in the area we would love to have you stop by.

~A New Year~

HAPPY NEW YEAR!  WOW what happened to last year? It went by in the blink of an eye. What do they say~~"time flies when you are having fun", well we must have had tons of fun...and we did! 2013 was a great year in the Brickhouse Craft Shop and we are looking forward to what the new year has in store. Last January we made some changes in the Shop. We decided to make our craft shop into more of a gift shop. When we first opened back in Dec 07 we were a craft shop that specialized in Primitive type crafts. Well, we still feature some primitives but we have added other "styles" and we will be adding some more different touches this year.
As we start this new year we are busy planning for the Festivals at Armstrong Valley Winery.

We will be doing 3 festivals this year, May 3-4, July 12-13 and Oct 4-5. We are always looking for new vendors for the festivals, so if you would like to apply to be a vendor at the Winery, send us info and pictures of your crafts/art to patim22@comcast.net and we will get an application out to you. We are looking for only handmades...no direct sales.

This blog will be updated more often so that we can keep our customers up to date on the happenings at the Brickhouse...so please check in to see what we are up to in the Shop.  And once a month we will be featuring one of our talented crafters that are part of our Shop...so stay tuned....we plan to keep this blog fresh and up to date.

~~Some New~Old Finds~~

While helping Tim's mom move and get ready for her Public Sale, I decided go into the barn and see what 'treasures' there might have been in there..well, let me tell you I saw a lot of things that I would love to have but after spending the whole summer helping my mother in law sort through 50plus years of 'treasures',..I have been coming home and sorting through my 'treasures'..so not only is she downsizing, so am I! BUT how could I resist these treasures...all of these items came from Tim's grand father and great grandfather's old family store, Masser's store in Hegins.
An old wooden Jell-O box, a little metal scoop, two wire letter baskets and old store price tags.

I love these baskets!

How cool are these old store price tags?

an old barrel, minus the lid

the barrel held coffee..Gerhart's coffee from Lancaster, Pa

I am using one of the wire baskets on our coffee table

It is holding old family pictures, old letters and old cards.

~~crafting on the porch~~

We are having the most amazing day today..the weather is PERFECT! So instead of being stuck in the house working on orders for our customers, I decided to move my craft room onto our porch.

Howie decided to take in a little porch sitting.

And Cricket decided to take a nap!

~~Busy Summer~~

I tried something new this weekend...I painted some mason jars...well not some (yet!)...just this one! But I will be painting SOME more! I just need to find time to do it...not sure if your summer is a busy one but mine sure is busy! I wish I could be busy crafting all day instead of doing yardwork, housework and all those other boring chores!

Tim and I are getting ready for the Summer Craft & Wine Festival at Armstrong Valley Winery. We have so much to do this week to get ready, we are hoping to unveil something NEW...hopefully we will get it done in time for the Festival..stay tuned! And I hope to get more of these jars painted. We would love to have you visit us at the Festival this weekend (July 13 & 14)...so if you are in our neck of the woods come on over to the Festival and stop by our booth and see what is new!
